Native Content Vs Sponsored Content

When it comes to digital marketing one thing that many businesses seem to assume is that content is just content. Of course, this can in some ways be true, but if you really want to make sure that your business has the boost that it needs, then you need to know the different types of advertising content that you can use to promote your business.

The two main forms that you are likely to hear is native content and sponsored content. But what are the differences between them?

Native content

Native content should really be known as native advertising and it is a type of media placement. It is offered by a publisher to promote another brand and is usually a form of media such as a video or perhaps an image. The idea of this type of advertising content is that is a snippet of a story, it is there to grab attention, to showcase a little about a brand and make sure that the person who sees it wants to click through and learn more about the larger story of the brand.

Sponsored content

Sponsored content, as the name suggests is a type of content. It is created by the place that is publishing it on behalf of the brand that it is promoting. This type of content will tell an entire story about a brand and in order to do this it needs to be written in a way that is going to be as engaging as possible. After all, the idea is that it captures attention and makes the reader want to stick around for as long as possible too.

Which is best?

To be honest, the answer to this is neither. Both forms of media can be effective in their own right and if you really want to make sure that your brand gets noticed and gets some interest in what it can offer you are going to need to place both.

The native content can be there to grab attention and bring people in and the sponsored content is going to make sure that they see the bigger picture and learn as much as possible about what you can offer and do.

Digital marketing does work especially placing some good quality content in a reliable source. But that doesn’t mean that the old fashioned approach can’t work just as well. Sometimes you just need to make sure that you create adverts that are going to get you noticed.
