Beat the Bushes Marketing Technique

Digital marketing is often a world that doesn’t think about social settings, and the idea that in order to succeed, we should beat the bushes. Instead, people often pressure you about the numbers, and how you’re going to reach your next sales goal. The people you meet are consumers, and thinking of them as such is what you need to be doing in order to get from one successful transaction to another. That’s successful digital marketing, and that’s all that matters.

It’s not safe to say that’s entirely wrong, but it’s a bold assumption that the people you’re meeting aren’t anything more than potential business opportunities. When you’re a digital marketer, you need to be social. In fact, social media is one of the most important tools we can be using in order to reach out to the people that we think will benefit from what we have to offer. However, if you’re thinking of these people in just that one way, you’re not really taking the opportunities you should.

For free, I invite you to do something called “beat the bushes”. An older saying I heard growing up, I want you to challenge yourself to reach out to new people everyday. During these interactions, I want you to question the person you’re talking to, and encourage them to talk about themselves. The more they open up, and the more you can get to know them, the stronger the connection will be. You’ll find yourself with something more than just a potential customer, but a friend on the other side!

We should be thankful for what social media can offer us, and for free, we can talk to anyone we want from all over the world. Combining social media and social selling with the motive to trying to get to know people without selling to them is exactly what we need to be doing, and using the idea to beat the bushes in order to get these people to come talk to you and tell you about who they are will lead to amazing marketing opportunities in the future.
